Organize a project on the mind map¶
What this is for¶
The map shows the chosen project, its subprojects and tasks as cards. You can lay out work spatially, add notes and mark relations with arrows.
How to get there¶
In Goals & Projects → Projects, click the map icon with the tooltip
Open the mind map in a new tab, or the Open the mind map icon
in the project details. The map address is /projects/{id}/mindmap.
Step by step¶
- Open the map of the chosen project and wait for the cards to load.
- Drag a card to change its position. Hold
Spacewhile dragging to pan the view. - Click a card to open the details panel. For a task you can also change the name with a double-click on the card.
- Choose Add → Add a note to add a note, or Add → Draw an arrow to connect cards.
- To move a task, drag its card onto the target project's card. This changes the task assignment.
- Watch the save state on the map bar. On an error, click Retry.
Ctrl+Ssaves the layout immediately.
Fields and options¶
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Filters | Includes Open only, Overdue, High priority (4+), Scheduled, Blocked. |
| Hide completed, Projects only | Limits the displayed cards. |
| View | Zoom, card coloring, automatic layout and Selection box (touch). |
| Add a frame, Frame the selection | A frame for an area or the selected cards. |
| Undo, Redo | Undo and redo layout, note, color and arrow changes. |
| Find a card | Card search; shortcut Ctrl+F. |
| Project Status | Manual change of the work cycle; see statuses. |
A red arrow blocks the card it points to; an orange one means a dependency on the pointed card, and a gray one a relation without order. Thin gray membership lines from tasks to projects are drawn automatically.
Common mistakes / pitfalls¶
- Moving a card in an empty area changes the layout, but dropping it on a project can move the task into that project.
- Undoing the layout does not undo all data operations. Deleting a task has its own confirmation.
- Filters can hide cards. Use Clear filters and check Hide completed before you assume a task was deleted.
- When hiding completed items, a completed parent may stay visible as context for open subprojects.
- When the saved layout could not be loaded, the app shows an automatic layout and does not save changes. Use Try again in the warning.
