Gather work in a project

What this is for

A project gathers tasks about one undertaking and shows progress, open tasks and remaining time. For larger work you can split out subprojects and schedule dates for the whole branch.

How to get there

Choose Goals & Projects → Projects (/projects). Clicking a project opens its details; the address /projects/{id} redirects to /projects?open={id}.

Step by step

  1. In Projects choose New project and enter a Name.
  2. Optionally fill in Description (optional), expand the additional options and set Parent project, Category, Status or Color.
  3. Click Create and open the created project.
  4. Add tasks through Add Task in the details. For larger groups of work use Add subproject in the project menu; see the structure.
  5. Schedule tasks in Projects Planner following the plan description, and review the layout of the work on the mind map.

Fields and options

Need Available option
A single action A task in Tasks; you can assign a project later.
Several actions in one undertaking Tasks in the project details, also without a date.
Several related groups of work Parent project and subprojects.
A shared outcome beyond the project Linking the project to a goal in Goals.
Reviewing the list Search, category and status filters, and sorting by e.g. progress and remaining time.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • A project name is required.
  • Progress and status are separate. Completing tasks does not close the project; use changing the status.
  • If the list is empty despite saved projects, check the filters and Hide completed, or click Clear filters.
