How to keep a media library

What this is for

The library helps you collect books, series, movies and games and plan time for them. Each type has its own form and way of counting progress, but all of them use statuses and can work with tasks in the planner.

How to get there

In Leisure pick Books (/books), Series (/series), Movies (/movies) or Games (/games). Which entries are visible depends on Settings → Panels.

Step by step

  1. Pick the media type in the Leisure menu.
  2. Add a title through New Book, New Series, New Movie or New game.
  3. Set the status and the data available for that media type.
  4. Open the title: add reading tasks, episodes or game milestones, and for a movie set the data in its form.
  5. Give it a date if you want to schedule the activity. The rules and limits are described in planning in the library.

Fields and options

Type Data and tracking method
Books Title, author, status and dates; progress from completed reading tasks.
Series Title, status and dates; a list of named episodes with duration and date.
Movies Title, status, runtime and watch date.
Games Title, platform, status, milestones and separate play sessions.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • The percentage has no single shared meaning: books count completed tasks, series count dated episodes, and games count completed milestones.
  • A title's status and the progress of its items are separate pieces of information. For example, Finish book changes the status and possibly the finish date, but does not check off all reading tasks.
