How to plan the week, month and year

What this is for

These three views show tasks in different time ranges. The week lets you set times, the month makes it easy to move work between dates, and the year lets you pick a day against the backdrop of the whole year.

How to get there

In the Planning menu choose Weekly Planner (/planner), Monthly Planner (/monthly) or Yearly Planner (/yearly).

Step by step

  1. Open Weekly Planner. Choose a week with the Previous week / Next week arrows. Today restores the current week.
  2. Use Add Task or click an empty spot in the calendar to create a task. In the calendar, drag a block to another time or day; the bottom edge changes its duration.
  3. Open Monthly Planner and choose a month with the arrows. Drag a task to another day to change the date. Dropping it on a month arrow moves the task one month in that direction.
  4. Open Yearly Planner. Click a day to see its tasks in the side panel. Drag a task from the panel to a day in the calendar to move it.
  5. In the yearly view you can also use Move to day next to a task and then pick a day in the opened date picker. For a task without a date, use Schedule on day for this.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • Changing a date by dragging in the month keeps the existing time and range length, if the task had them. On a save error the previous date returns and Couldn't move '…' appears.
  • The weekly calendar may report Calendar drag & drop is unavailable — reload the page (Ctrl+F5). In that case reload the page with Ctrl+F5.
  • When filters hide tasks in the month, use Clear filters.
