How to log in and recover your password

What this is for

The page describes logging in to LOS, changing the password and recovering access when the password has been forgotten.

How to get there

Login happens at /login. You change the password in Settings → Account & profile (the Account section), and recovery starts with the Forgot password? link on the login screen.

Step by step

  1. Log in with your e-mail address and password at /login.
  2. When the password is unknown, click Forgot password?, enter the e-mail address and choose Send reset link.
  3. Check your inbox — the message contains a link valid for 60 minutes. The app responds the same way whether or not the address has an account.
  4. Open the link and set a new password (at least 8 characters) with a repeat, then click Set new password.
  5. After the change, log in again with the Sign in button.
  6. With account access, you change the password in Settings → Account & profile → Change password: give the current password, the new one and its repeat, then Change password.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • After a series of failed login attempts the form pauses further attempts with a Try again in N s countdown.
  • An expired or already used reset link does not work — you have to request a new one through Request a new link.
  • A link opened without a token (e.g. pasted by hand) shows This reset link is incomplete.
  • LOS does not keep a list of sessions on other devices — signing out works in the current browser. The device list covers only push notifications and is in Settings → Notifications.
